Dashboard camera data gives trustworthy and precise information on the chronology, timing, and motions performed before the collision. The data acquired might help us better understand the causes of accidents and enhance assistance and road safety measures.
The majority of dashboard cameras are engine-connected and are set to begin recording as soon as the ignition is turned on. This system guarantees that the dashboard cameras are continually recording, which may be required by insurance carriers. Dashboard cameras let fleet owners monitor their drivers’ driving habits. Car rental firms may utilize dashboard cameras to monitor their customers’ driving habits. Viewing driving videos may also help a person improve their driving skills
Market Trend
Dashcam
In 2021, the worldwide dashboard camera market was estimated to be valued USD 3,615 million. It is estimated to be worth USD 10,860 million by 2030, with a 13% CAGR between 2022 and 2030. Dashboard cameras, sometimes known informally as “dashcams,” are projected to see an increase in demand for installation in passenger and commercial vehicles as sales of such vehicles increase.
Dashboard cameras are becoming more popular among drivers all around the country. Many commercial and personal automobile dashboards are using this technology. It gives the driver control over the vehicle’s security and enables recording occurrences such as crashes, thefts, and vandalism. Dashboard camera video is now admissible in establishing responsibility and insurance claims as evidence. Insurance companies offer discounts to people who use dashboard cameras to stop people from making false insurance claims.
The dashboard camera business has expanded rapidly as car thefts have increased. As the number of cars with dashcameras grows, many governments have made it mandatory for them to be installed, which has helped companies grow. More people are likely to buy dashboard cameras in the coming years because car theft is on the rise.

When the cameras are in parking mode, they can monitor potential car thefts and vandalism while the driver is away from their vehicle. Dashcams with this feature switch to parking mode automatically when the engine is turned off or the car has been stopped for a certain amount of time. When the camera sees movement in its area, it starts to record video to get as much evidence as possible.
The major worldwide manufacturers are concentrating their efforts on developing unique dashcameras linked to various supplementary technologies like telematics and vehicle data monitoring. Commercial customers, such as taxi drivers, delivery firms, and trucking companies, acquire 2-channel (dual channel) dashboard cameras since they collect film inside the vehicle.

Global auto security system sales are predicted to reach $33.8 billion by 2031. By 2020, the vehicle security systems sector will account for about 5% of the total automotive electronics market. The auto security system market is expected to grow at a healthy 11.8% CAGR between 2021 and 2031. Security systems for passenger cars are in higher demand worldwide because of manufacturers’ and end-users’ worries about vehicle safety.
As automotive electronics and remote control methods have evolved, security system installations like car alarms, central locking, and keyless entry have become more important.
Remote keyless entry, alarms, immobilizers, central locking systems, and passive keyless entry are all available on the market. Technology has classified it into four categories:
- Real-time location system
- Facial recognition system
- Global strategy for mobile communication
- And global positioning system

COVID-19 pandemic
Dashcam
Almost every industry was briefly impacted or shut down during the COVID-19 epidemic. Nationwide lockdowns were enacted in several nations, severely restricting people’s movements outside their houses. As a result of being compelled to remain inside, the demand for dashboard cams fell dramatically. The bulk of automobile accessory outlets has been on indefinite hold, with just core retail chains permitted to continue. As a consequence, the industry’s supply chain suffered as a result. Manufacturers have started to use different tactics to fight the drop in sales.
Vehicle security
The COVID-19 pandemic had a detrimental influence on the market, resulting in a delay in demand for automobile security systems due to the stoppage of industrial facilities and lockdowns. However, increased knowledge about the advantages of security systems in restricted cars has slowed the market’s growth, which is projected to continue during the projection period.

Regional Analysis
Dashcam
Several countries have made dashboard cameras legal in order to give the best protection and safety for drivers and passengers. Senator JV Ejercito of the Philippines proposed legislation that would mandate dashboard cameras in all government-owned police vehicles, PUVs, and school buses.
The idea comprises government-owned patrol vehicles, PUVs with application-based transportation services, and other comparable vehicles that provide public transit. On May 16, 2017, Senate Bill No. 1457, often known as the Dashcam Law, was signed into law. The law’s goal is to minimize traffic offenses and road accidents. The rule also safeguards drivers from dishonest law enforcement officers who abuse their authority and resort to extortion.
Dashboard cameras are becoming more common and widely accepted across the Middle East, particularly in the UAE, since they aid motorists and investigative authorities in conducting traffic accident investigations. Brigadier Saif Mohair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Police’s General Department of Traffic, authorized the use of dashboard camera photos and recordings to combat traffic violations in June 2017.
The Asia-Pacific dashboard camera market is predicted to grow the quickest. In certain countries, insurance firms have begun to provide premium reductions to drivers with dashboard cameras installed in their cars. Dashboard cameras are projected to achieve widespread adoption in this area throughout the projection period since they provide crucial proof that may protect the user both legally and financially.
North America is the world’s third-largest region. Throughout the projected period, dashcam adoption is expected to soar throughout North America. In January 2017, New York (NY) State introduced a Senate Bill (S438) to provide non-commercial car owners with a 5% premium reduction for utilizing a dashcam. Dashboard cameras are permitted in the majority of states in the area, mostly in the United States. Several truck and taxi drivers in the area have been employing dashboard cameras in recent years due to the security these cameras provide for their livelihood.

The Asia-Pacific market is expected to be driven by emerging nations like India and China, where the automotive sector is expected to expand rapidly. Technological advancements are expected to fuel this sector’s vehicle security system market.
With 292 car assembly and manufacturing sites in 26 countries, Europe is an important center for various OEMs. Consequently, the European market for automobile security systems is likely to grow dramatically. The European Union, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Finland were the first to establish obligatory legislation requiring immobilizers.
In North America, they were followed by Malaysia, Australia, Canada, and Brazil in the rest of the globe (RoW). These new rules increased the need for immobilizers and alarms. Audi, Toyota, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz have all created proprietary GPS-based security systems. These technologies/services are now exclusively available in the luxury passenger car category. However, mid-segment vehicles will likely include these systems in the next few years.

Market dynamics
Market Drivers (Dashcam)
Owing to the booming automobile industry, the market for dashcams has exploded. The leading market participants are now working on improving the user-friendliness and convenience of dashcams by including features like expandable storage capacity, long-lasting batteries, and night vision cameras in their product offerings. Taxi and trucking firms, for example, prefer 2-channel (dual channel) dashcams since single-channel dashcams cannot be updated by adding a secondary unit to collect film inside the vehicle. Multi-lens dashcams are a lucrative market for dashcam manufacturers to invest.
Market Drivers (Vehicle security)
Population growth and increased consumer buying power are two major factors projected to boost global automotive sales. The installation of vehicle security systems in almost every automobile to keep it safe from thieves is driving the main Vehicle Security System Market.
Increased demand for face recognition and location systems, on the other hand, is expected to propel the global car security system market ahead. Furthermore, as the number of automobile thefts has increased, various insurers throughout the globe have experienced large losses. Because the likelihood of auto theft decreases after an anti-theft device is effectively put in the vehicle, several insurance firms have ceased insuring cars without a security system.
Market Restraints(Dashcam)
The introduction of linked automobiles and sophisticated driver assistance technologies has dramatically enhanced overall driving experience and made vehicle driving safer than ever before. However, as our society gets more technologically linked, the greater the fear about cybersecurity. Dashcams are often chastised by cybersecurity experts due to privacy issues. Experts have already identified several security flaws that might lead to user data leaks and cyber-attacks.
Market Restraints(Vehicle security system)
Some of the issues limiting market expansion are the high cost of automobile security systems and the failure of vehicle security systems. Compared to aftermarket anti-theft systems, factory-fitted security systems are more dependable and less likely to malfunction.
Another problem with some aftermarket anti-theft systems is that the Chinese electronics used in the anti-theft module might not work as well as they should. Many aftermarket systems use recycled chips or low-quality parts that break after a year or two and cause the system to stop working.
The global auto security system market is projected to be restrained throughout the forecast period by a lack of knowledge about the benefits of vehicle security systems.

LIGHTWEIGHT VIRTUALIZATION AS ENABLING TECHNOLOGY FOR FUTURE SMART CAR
By Roberto Morabito, Riccardo Petrolo, Valeria Loscr, Nathalie Mitton, Giuseppe Ruggeri, and Antonella Molinaro Ericsson Research, Jorvas, Finland Rice University, Texas, USA Inria Lille – Nord Europe, France DIIES, University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria, Italy.
For monitoring and troubleshooting, modern automobiles include a network of linked sensors on board. The availability of these sensors is one of the primary reasons why new applications for smart cars are being developed. They suggest a Docker container-based platform as a way for creating bespoke smart vehicle apps in their research paper.
Using a proof-of-concept prototype built on a Raspberry Pi3 Board, they demonstrate that a container-based virtualization method is not only practical but also effective and versatile in managing several concurrent processes operating on an On Board Unit. More precisely, the platform can make priority-based judgments by working several inputs, such as data from the May bus based on OBD II codes, video from the onboard camera, and so on. The findings are encouraging for the future development of in-vehicle virtualized systems.

Ambuj Mehrish, A.V Subramanyam, Mohan Kankanhalli Department of Electronics and Communication IIIT-Delhi, India School of Computing NUS, Singapore
Dashboard-mounted video cameras are becoming more popular in various nations across the globe. The widespread use of dash-cams introduces additional issues, such as dash-cam movies being published to public websites that feature footage of other automobiles with number plates visible. This might jeopardize one’s privacy. Furthermore, dash-cam films may be used as evidence of a collision. There have been seven instances of dash-cam films being used for insurance claims. Not only may valid claims be made, but false claims can also be made utilizing film from other automobiles.
Dash-cam recordings will be frequently used and misapplied in the near future. They provide a solution to the challenge of identifying the car in which the dashboard camera is positioned in this article. Insurance firms may utilize our approach to authenticate the footage’s source of origin (the vehicle on which the camera is installed) before processing the insurance claim. They employ features derived from motion blur as a character created by the distinctive motion of a vehicle and also discovered that each vehicle’s slight motion pattern functions as a unique signature.
ADVANCED BIOMETRIC VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
Mr. KAUSHAL S. PATHARE
In today’s world, facilities are expanding, but with that expansion comes a surge in theft, robbery, and other vehicle-related difficulties. They are building a new manner of interlocking automobile and vehicle security controlling systems only to boost the security of our vehicles. In our initiative, they use one of the human body’s most distinctive features, fingerprints. Every person in the universe has a distinct set of fingerprints. This would assist us in improving the vehicle’s security. In this case, the car would know who all the owners are and who is attempting to force open the door. Not only are we managing the car, but they are also controlling the engine, which increases the vehicle’s security even more. The machine is controlled by a newly created component called carObit.
